Plants of Table Mountain: Cape Floral Kingdom Collection

Artist Laurence Garrett brings 9 plants of Table Mountain to life in our limited-edition release. The hand drawn illustrations created with stippled pen marks reflect hours of study and meditative process.

The artwork appears as screen-printed linework on a sand hoodie, olive green t-shirt, natural hemp & cotton totebag, sticker pack. The collection is completed with the release of a knitted beanie and a ripstop bush hat.

Only 60 of each garment exist to ensure a high quality. The small batches celebrate the unique artwork and a moment in time. We work with local artists and crafts people to produce the best possible quality of work.

The plants featured are the Bobartia filiformis (Slender Rushiris), Protea repens (Sugarbush), Leucospermum conocarpodendron (Grey Tree Pincushion), Watsonia tabularis (Table Mountain Watsonia), Disa uniflora (Red Disa), Erica ericoides (Heath), Micranthus alopecuroides (Swordleaf Combflower), Ixia polystachia (Corn Kalossie), Crassula coccinea (Klipblom).

A special story links the Disa uniflora and the Watsonia tabularis. They are both pollinated by the mountain pride butterfly, Aeropetes tulbaghia, attracted by the red colour of their flowers and rewarded by its nectar. The Disa is entirely dependent on the mountain pride butterfly for its pollination, reminding us of the delicate balance of nature.
